Kangaroos just meals for foxes

National parks and wildlife supports feeding foxes.

What  a crazy idea that is! But is it real. Sadly, yes, here’s how it works. Farmers clear land and grasses grow, the kangaroo population explodes. Farmers are required by law for tags to control the populations. Fair enough. They then shoot and tag the dead animals. And then they sell them to the abattoir so the death of an animal is not wasted and it provides money for the shooters and farmers.

WRONG.

They are not allowed to supply the dead animal to the abattoir. By law it has to be left there, other than a bit of skinning for dogs meat. So what happens to the carcasses then? Foxes come in and eat them.

Brilliant work NPWS.
